a personal computer and additional funding for academic enrichment activities, involving special trips, retreats, seminars and grant opportunities.

Requires school nomination. Potential

candidates should be in the top 5 to 10 percent of the senior class. Candidates are required to complete an online NCSU undergraduate admissions application through the WolfPAW system.

Candidates must be of the highest caliber in these three areas (Scholarship, Leadership, and Service) OR be exceptional in at least one area and demonstrate great potential in the others. Candidates with little or no evidence of commitment in a particular area such as service, for example, generally are not competitive for Park Scholarships.

$26,000 scholarship to 500 outstanding North Carolina high school seniors each year.

The North Carolina Teaching Fellows Program was enacted by the General Assembly in 1986. The mission of the program is to recruit talented high school graduates into the teaching profession and to help them develop leadership qualities. The Recipients agree to teach four years after graduation in one of North Carolina’s public schools or United States Government schools in North Carolina
