At the Interview

There are different types of interview: face to face, committee, screening, lunch and telephone interview. Most common in our country are the committee interviews where several members of the company management will decide whether you are hired or not.

Certain questions frequently come up. So it’s worth thinking about the answers beforehand. By rehearsing them you’ll become more familiar with your own qualifications and will be well prepared to demonstrate how you can benefit the employer

  1. WHY DID YOU LEAVE YOUR LAST JOB?

The interviewer may want to know if you had any problems on your last job. If you had problems, show that you can accept responsibility and learn from your mistakes Be positive. Emphasize experiences you think are relevant for the new job. Give a reason, such as: relocated away from job, company went out of business, laid off, temporary job, no possibility of advancement, wanted a job better suited to your skills, etc. Be as honest as possible without criticizing your previous employer. If you found the job boring you can say that you could not make full use of your true abilities

  1. WHAT DID YOU DO IN YOUR LAST JOB?

Do not just give the name of the job. Describe the main duties and responsibilities you had. Be sure to mention any promotion or advancement you had.

  1. WHY DO YOU WANT TO WORK FOR US?

This is your chance to show you have found something about the firm before the interview. Don’t talk only about what you hope to get from them Emphasize what you can do for them, as well. Explain how what you did in the past will be useful in the new job. Talk about how your professional skills will benefit the company. If you don’t work in sales, your answer should never be simply: “money”. The interviewer will wonder if you really care about the job.
4. DO YOU PREFER TO WORK BY YOURSELF OR WITH OTHERS?

The ideal answer is one of flexibility. However, be honest. Give examples describing how you have worked in both situations.

OTHER QUESTIONS are about:

Your qualifications:

We have a lot of applicants for this job, why should we appoint you?

What new skills or capabilities have you developed recently?

Give me an example from a previous job where you have shown initiative

What is more important to you: status or money?

What salary do you expect?

What motivates you in your work?

What have you been doing since your last job?

What qualities do you find important in a co-worker?

What were your responsibilities in your last job?

What has been your most valuable experience?
