Professional Profile

A postgraduate in Physics with profound knowledge in Physics and Mathematics, I am now involved in synthesizing multiferroic materials and studying their properties as the part of my PhD programme in Department of Physics, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. I have the expertise in handling varieties of sophisticated instruments such as X-ray diffractometer, Vibrating sample magnetometer, Electron Spin Resonance spectrometer, UV-VIS IR spectrometer etc. and in data analysing. Solving the crystallographic structure based on the XRD patterns using FULLPROF software is one kind of my passion.

Research Experience

  • Right after my MSc, I worked in a project entitled “Magnetic Properties of SnO2 based Nanocrystalline Diluted Magnetic Semiconductors” sponsored by BRNS, Mumbai in Department of Physics, IIT Guwahati under the guidance of Prof. S.Ravi from February 2011 to February 2013. Solid state reaction route was used for sample preparation and structural, magnetic, optical and transport properties were studied. VSM, XRD, UV-VIS IR spectrometers, ESR, Resistivity set-up were used as tools for carrying out the studies.

  • As the part of my PhD work under the guidance of Prof. S. Ravi, multiferroic compounds using solid state and sol gel method are prepared, and their structural, magnetic, dielectric properties are being studied. We are looking to induce ferroelectricity and ferromagnetism in the same single compounds and their possible interactions.
